Cagle Names Bettye Chambers Honorary Senator

(Atlanta, GA) – Lt. Governor Casey Cagle named Buford’s Bettye Chambers “Honorary Senator” for Thursday, October 4th.

“It was an honor to welcome Bettye to the Capitol today. She is a wonderful example of a Georgian who serves others by volunteering her time and talents, and I was pleased to visit with her,” Cagle said.

Chambers resides in Buford and taught at the high school and college level for 30 years.  She is a graduate of Florida State University and operated her own desktop publishing and web design business.  Chambers is a Regent and member of the Board of Directors for the National Federation of Republican Women and served as the Greater Gwinnett Republican Women’s Secretary and now Webmaster. She has served as Secretary of the GA Federation of Republican Women and GFRW Webmaster.  She currently is Communications Director and Webmaster for the 9th District Republican Party of Georgia.  She was also as an officer and Webmaster for the Hall County Republican Party for several years. Chambers and her husband, Harvey, enjoy spending time with their daughter, son-in-law and two grandsons who reside in Suwanee.

The Honorary Senator program is an effort by Cagle to recognize and reward outstanding Georgia citizens who are involved in their community and the political process. Honorary Senators are invited to the State Capitol to witness the legislative process, when the Senate is in session, and meet with Lt. Governor Cagle.
