Convention Information:


The GFRW Call has been mailed to each club President and includes the following:

  • Resolutions need to be to Margaret Holliman 7 days prior to the convention.
     
  • There is a delegate & alternate certification form along with a convention registration form. Club Presidents should handle the certification forms. Registration is $45 which includes the Saturday luncheon.
     
  • Board of Directors Meeting -- 8:30 AM on Saturday
     
  • Convention  -- 9:00 AM on Saturday

    Howard Hollis "Bo" Callaway
     

    Bo Callaway has the distinction of being the first Republican congressman from Georgia since 1875. He also attempted to become the first Republican governor since 1872. Although Callaway received the most popular votes for governor in the 1966 general election, the presence of a write-in candidate prevented him from receiving the constitutionally required majority. The election was thrown to the left-leaning legislature, which chose the Democratic candidate, Lester Maddox. Read more. . .

    Federation officers will be elected for 2006 - 2007
    District Directors to caucus with their delegates to elect new 2006-2007 directors immediately following the convention.

      Sadler of Ohio also has held the positions of 4th vice president, director of Regions II and V, and has served on the Resolutions, Public Relations, Finance, and Survey and Research committees, and as fundraising chair for Region II.

Convention is open to all members and their guests. Fully registered members and guests may attend all activities and sessions of the convention upon payment of the registration fee.

There is no proxy voting in a delegated convention.

  Directions

  Callaway® is in Pine Mountain, Georgia, 60 minutes southwest of Atlanta and 30 minutes  
  north of Columbus.


  If you are staying in the Mountain Creek® Inn or Mountain Creek® Villas:
 
Please check in at the Mountain Creek Inn on U. S. Hwy. 27 (see map). You will not 
  use the Gardens Entrance to get to your accommodations.

  If you are checking in to a Southern Pine® Cottage:
 
Please come to the Gardens entrance on Ga. Hwy. 18. Enter and take the first left  
  (before the gated entrance), then take the second left. This will take you to The Southern 
  Pine Conference Center. Inside the lobby, you will find the cottage check-in desk to your 
  right.

  The directions below are to the entrance of the Gardens on Ga. Hwy. 18. Use this 
  entrance to visit any of our attractions, enjoy golf, fishing and bicycling, or to dine at the 
  Discovery Cafe and Champions.

  If you are traveling from:

  • Columbus, GA (30 miles) - Take Interstate 185 North to Ga. Hwy. 18 East (exit 34). Turn right off Hwy. 18 to the entrance of The Gardens at Callaway™.
     
  • Atlanta (70 miles) - Take Interstate 85 South to Interstate 185 South (exit 21). From Interstate 185, exit at U. S. Hwy. 27 (exit 42). Follow Hwy. 27 South to Pine Mountain. In Pine Mountain, turn right onto Hwy. 354 West. Proceed to Ga. Hwy. 18 and turn left into The Gardens at Callaway.
     
  • Macon, GA (80 miles) - Take U. S. Hwy. 80 West to Ga. Hwy. 208 West to U. S. Hwy. 27 North. Turn left onto Ga. Hwy. 354 West and proceed to Ga. Hwy. 18. Turn left into The Gardens at Callaway.
     
  • Montgomery, AL (110 miles) - Take Interstate 85 to Ga. Hwy. 18 East (exit 2). Turn right off Hwy. 18 to the entrance of The Gardens at Callaway.
     
  • Albany, GA (110 miles) - Take Corridor Z (Ga. Hwy 280) to Columbus. In Columbus take Interstate 185 North to Ga. Hwy. 18 East (exit 34). Turn right off Hwy. 18 to the entrance of The Gardens at Callaway.
     
  • Birmingham, AL (150 miles) - Take U. S. Hwy. 280 East to Opelika and take Interstate 85 North to Ga. Hwy. 18 East (exit 2). Turn right off Hwy. 18 to the entrance of The Gardens at Callaway.
     
  • Tallahassee, FL (200 miles) - Take U. S. Hwy. 319 North to Thomasville, then U. S. Hwy. 19 to Albany. Proceed using directions listed above for Albany.
