February 5, 2009

Dear GGRW members, prospective members and friends

Please mark your calendar for Monday, February 9, for our next GGRW meeting at O'Charley's Restaurant in Lawrenceville at 7 p.m.

830 Lawrenceville-Suwanee Road
Lawrenceville , GA 30043
(770) 237-3788

Topic of the evening:

-- Learning about Proposed Legislation and Influencing the Outcome --

Our Rep. Donna Sheldon and Senator Renee Unterman have been invited update us about current hot topics in the session. President Sara Snyder plans to go over some bills that address women's concerns and then discuss ways of lobbying by writing or calling.

This is an open meeting and everyone is invited. It is not necessary to purchase a complete meal -- just a dessert or drink would suffice.  However, most of us enjoy having dinner at O'Charley's and thus avoid cooking at home that night ;- )

Greater Gwinnett Republican Women Membership Dues are Due for 2009!

It's that time of the year again when our GGRW annual dues are due.  Click here to download a membership form which you can complete and mail to our Treasurer Adrienne Ellis along with your check.  Remember that Republican men are encouraged to join as Associate Members.  In years past nearly all of our Gwinnett elected officials were associate members and most of their wives were regular members.  Our club very much needs their presence and input.

Please invite your neighbors, relatives and friends to become active in GGRW and the election process by joining our Republican women's club.  Here they can network with other women who share the same conservative ideology.  This year more than EVER, we need to stick together and work to once again gain the majority in Congress.  We also need to grow our numbers in our Georgia Legislature and all local offices.   We must never give up the fight to see that our conservative values continue to grow.

News Updates at the top of www.GGRW.org

Following are some of the latest updates at the top of our home page in case you missed them:
  • Michael Steele elected Chairman of the RNC on January 31.  Our associate member, GA National Committeewoman Linda Herren, was there at this momentous meeting where our first African-American was elected to serve in this distinguished position.  Our own GA GOP Chairman, Sue Everhart, was also there and had the honor of delivering one of the nominating speeches on his behalf. In fact, Sue made the news on this in AJC Jim Calloway's article.  Read more. . .

Michael has been very popular in Georgia especially since last May when he spoke at our state convention.

CONGRATULATIONS TO Brandon and Jennifer Doty on the birth of their son,
Gregory Richard Doty!  We look forward to meeting this young man soon.  Naturally, he is already a Republican.

Hope to see you next Monday evening at our GGRW meeting at O'Charley's in Lawrenceville.
